“Blessed Be The Name” is always a go-to worship song when I need something solid in my worship set. People love it and it has an enduring quality where it is just one of those songs that never seems to get old.
Lyrically, it has a pretty tough message: “Blessed be your name on the road marked with suffering…” This truly is Job’s story. I sing it so nonchalantly sometimes, but it really is a tremendous declaration of faith, of God’s sovereignty.
Besides the meaning and the theology in the lyrics, it’s just got great melodies and a simple but strong chord progression. Bravo Matt Redman!
Enjoy this song. I certainly do.
Here’s a video that someone shared with me that is just incredible. It literally made the hairs on my arm stand up as I watched it. The message of the song become so clear. This video was done by a church that I have never visited and includes people I have never met…but one day we will all meet and together we will sing “Blessed By Your Name”!

Hi,
Well I’ve lost my mother to canser last summer. But I know that she had a heart that spoke out these words: BLESSED BE THE NAME OF THE LORD.
It’s a very good song, I like it a lot, it helped me several times out of a dip.
Bless you and blessed be the name of the LORD.
Samuel.

Hello and God Bless Arron. Hope you are well and in good spirits.
In 2007 we lost our daughter in a murder suicide by her estranged husband. At the time she was attending 4 different churches to hear the word of our Lord. In the last couple years of her life, we never had a conversation that didn’t include God. We praised God before her death, we praised God the day of her death, and we praise God everyday after. Blessed Be the Name of the Lord!! What an awesome God!!!!
Thank you for all you do Arron in making a joyful noise.
God’s peace be with you always,
Roger

I would love to join, but lost my job 10 months ago and can not even aford the $1 dollor for the free trial. I am working on my guitar skills to try to join the praise band at Church, and the band plays this song quite a bit. Even if i could get just this lesson it would be a big help.
