Hi my name is Aaron Anastasi and I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not the world’s best guitar player and I wasn’t born with any kind of musical genius…and I’m just fine with that.  I’m really just a regular guy with a good work ethic and a love for music who learned how to play guitar as a teenager.

As I became more proficient at guitar and started leading worship I had many people ask me to teach them guitar.  Because of the way my brain works and the fact that I’m not a “music theory” guy, I created a simple step-by-step way to teach beginners how to play guitar and worship songs.  In my program I’ll show you the fastest system for beginners to learn guitar and start playing worship songs.  My goal was to be able to teach any person with a desire to learn to be able to play guitar quickly and easily…and I think I did

To back up a little, I actually grew up in “Surf City” – Huntington Beach, California.  I wasn’t your typical surfer, skate punk, pro snowboarder from southern California though. Aside from catching waves, riding half-pipes and launching off snow-covered cliffs, I spent much of my youth playing music for the church. The son of a worship leader, I began playing guitar at the age of eight and I would say my first musical influence was “worship music.”

In high school, I began writing rock songs, as well as playing acoustic sets in local coffee shops throughout Southern California, while also leading worship in my youth group. And I seized the opportunity to travel, and live, throughout South America where I played music in Bolivia and Brazil, writing songs in Spanish and Portuguese.

Upon my return from South America, I attended Lee University in Tennessee where I majored in Bible and Theology and formed my first band and recorded three solo albums: Star Seven, Here I Stand and Worship. After graduating from Lee University, I went on to get my Masters of Divinity (M.Div.) degree from Princeton Seminary. At Princeton I formed the band Unsent Letters and released two more records: The Princeton EP & the full length release, Better Than Beautiful.

I have played for thousands of people throughout the United States and South America, performing and touring both as a solo artist and with my band, Unsent Letters, but eventually moved back to California but, this time, to Hollywood, where I currently reside.

I lead worship at a local church Southern California, where I have been serving for almost three years and have recently become an ordained minister.

When I am not leading worship, I work with the film production company I co-founded, called Tomato Garden Pictures. We are currently filming a comedy web series, called ‘Curtains’, of which I will be acting in one of the lead roles.

In addition, I am working on new record alongside my long-time best friend Chas, with whom I co-founded Play Worship Guitar. This record is being co-written and produced by two-time Grammy Award winning producer, Nathan Chapman, who produced all of Taylor Swift’s albums. The music is a catchy mix of clever lyrics and shameless pop melodic hooks. It has been described as a modern day dance pop Simon and Garfunkel.

Along with all this, my passion is teaching, which is why I started Play Worship Guitar. I spend most of my mornings teaching and tutoring adolescents in the greater Los Angeles area.
